About Us

I first became involved in training dogs about 20 years ago at the age of 15. My parents allowed me to get a hunting dog after we moved to northeast Nebraska. After a lot of research I decided on a springer spaniel.

I picked up Jodi at about 7 weeks old. What a dog she turned out to be, she was really a natural talent. Over the next several years we took numerous pheasant, quail, hungarian partridge, prairie chicken, dove, and ducks (Nebraska was quite a wingshooting paradise back then!). Jodi could also play the field trial game, she had open and amateur placements. We had a few litters from Jodi, her most notable offspring was FC Geno-Jay Le Roi, who I had the honor of training and trialing for the late Dr. Eugene Johnson.

Over the next several years came some additional members to my dog family and I started training professionally at the age of 20. I trained mostly gun dogs of various breeds at first, while trialing my own springers. Over the next 10 years I moved gradually more and more towards trialing springers until I was running a full time trial schedule all over the United States, and some in Canada.

In 2008 I went to Wyoming to manage and train for *Trieven - Sungold Kennels. They were a large breeding kennel that specialized in pointing labradors and field bred golden retrievers. I enjoyed my time there with the many dogs and the people I met. I however started missing the midwest, and never became fond of the rattle snakes, sage brush, and cactus Wyoming had to offer.

In July of 2009 I made the long move back to Iowa where I am now concentrating on training all breeds of gundogs, and breeding springer spaniels. I may get back into the trial game on a limited basis as well in the future.
